Mouth Guards and You (the full article)
? so what do you recommend for a kid with upper and lower braces?
ReplyDeleteGreat question! Dr. Michelle Neal recommends that children with upper and lower braces use a mouth guard that protects both the upper and lower appliances. The best mouth guard we've found on the market to date, is from a company called Shock Doctor. (Website is: www.shockdoctor.com). On this site you will find two types of "braces mouth guards" available for purchase, with or without a sports strap. Some sports stores offer the Shock Doctor mouth guards as well, you can search for these stores in your area. The double-sided mouth guard is the best for children with braces on both the upper and lower teeth. Please note if your child has braces on the upper only then they can use the one sided "braces mouth guard." Call our office if you have any trouble locating this mouth guard or if you have any additional questions.
